Reporting concerns to child protection allied health providers factsheet

All adults have a role to play in protecting children, even when they do not have a mandated legal responsibility to make a report to Child Protection. Under the law, anyone who believes a child is in need of protection may make a report to Child Protection. When delivering services to children and families, allied health professionals have an important role in protecting children from harm.
Although allied health providers (except registered psychologists) are not mandatory reporters in Victoria, if you believe a child is in need of protection you are strongly encouraged to make a report. Making a report can help to stop abuse and protect children from future harm.
