Important notice: the Parentline phone service is no longer in operation.

The Government’s priority continues to be keeping children and young people safe, and families and carers strong.

Victorian parents, carers and families will continue to get the support they need.

There are a range of services and resources that provide connected support and / or counselling, including but not limited to:

  • Maternal and Child Health Line – 13 22 29 (for Victorian families with children from birth to 6 years, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
  • Nurse on Call – 1300 60 60 24 (immediate, expert health advice from a registered nurse, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
  • The Raising Children Network – providing support for parents and carers with evidence-based resources for children and young people from pregnancy through to 18 years
  • Headspace – 1800 650 890 (support for young people aged 12 to 25 years)
  • Kids Helpline – 1800 55 1800 (free, private, and confidential telephone and online counselling service for young people aged between 5 and 25 years)
  • The Orange Door (offers help for people experiencing family violence and assistance with the care and wellbeing of children and young
    people, including support for parents)
  • Safe Steps – 1800 015 188 (immediate support for anyone experiencing family and domestic violence. Crisis support available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
  • Lifeline – 13 11 14 (providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services)
  • 1800 RESPECT – 1800 737 732 (family violence and sexual assault 24 hour telephone support)
  • MensLine Australia – 1300 78 99 78 (free telephone and online counselling service offering support for Australian men anywhere, anytime)
  • Beyond Blue – 1300 224 636 (support and resources to improve mental health. The Beyond Blue Support Service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for brief counselling)
  • PANDA (Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia) – 1300 726 306 (supports the mental health of parents and families during pregnancy and in their first year of parenthood)
